Wissance-zerial - cross-platform GUI utility for interaction with the serial (COM, USB-COM) devices
Introduction:
Wissance-zerial is an open-source software solution developed by the Russian company Wissance LLC, designed to test electronic devices equipped with serial (COM) ports. This utility is essential for companies developing robots, UAVs, and other high-tech electronic equipment. Drawing on our own experience, we created a tool that perfectly suited our needs and shared both the software and its source code with the developer community. Anyone can examine the code to see that it is a completely independent, custom-built solution that aligns with our core philosophy.

- Cross-platform – runs seamlessly on all major operating systems, including Windows, Linux (via Snap), and macOS.
- High performance – built with Avalonia, it offers a major performance boost over Electron-based apps—starting up in under 3 seconds, maintaining a memory footprint below 100 MB, and keeping CPU usage minimal under moderate data exchange rates.
- Binary mode – full support for data exchange using HEX representations of bytes
- Multi port support – designed to communicate with multiple serial devices simultaneously (experimental/partially tested).
- Multi-language interface – fully localized into English and Russian out of the box. Additional LTR (left-to-right) languages can be easily added without recompiling the application.
- Simplicity of a installation – available via popular package managers (Chocolatey for Windows, Snap for Linux) or as a standalone Windows installer
